Porcelain Lamp Gallery - Basic Line

My porcelain lamps were originally inspired by Japanese andon (floor lamps made of paper and wood or bamboo), extraordinary for their elegant designs and soft, soothing light.  After years of experimentation and effort, I have developed lamps that combine the qualities of andon with the durability, individuality and decorative possibilities of porcelain.  My warm wishes to everyone who will enjoy the beauty and serenity of this evolving series of lamps.

The lamps in the original series are stamped with the Clayground logo on the inside & the Tougenan Japanese logo on the outer side.

In order to achieve the best translucency, the walls of my lamps are very thin.  Since the final firing reaches a temperature of 1250°C/2280°F, the walls become a bit soft & have a tendency to warp slightly.  This means that none of the lamps are of perfectly regular shape, each has its own individuality determined by what potters like to call the “kiln gods”.
